RESEARCH POSTER PRESENTATION TEMPLATE © 2019www.PosterPresentations.comResultsDepartment of Computer Science and ElectronicsMorehead State UniversityAidan Ray (URF)*, Dr. Anindita PaulResearch on Energy Harvesting and Wireless Charging Technology for Internet of Things (IoT) ApplicationsOverviewCurrent Options:Proposed SetupConclusionsReferencesAcknowledgmentMotivation Behind Design: Renewable or “green” sources of energy havebecome a popular alternative energy sourceoutside of traditional means. A movement away from the use of batteries insmall devices is impactful to reducing wasteand pollutants. Continuous wireless energy transferred todevices would eliminate the need for humanintervention to replace batteries, especially inpotentially harmful areas. The dependence on batteries or commercialelectricity could pose inconvenient orpotentially dangerous problems in the event ofblackouts or other loss of power. The methods that currently exist fortransmitting power wirelessly create largelosses and are highly affected by noise. Relying on renewable energy sources meansrelying on discontinuous forms of powergeneration. Renewable energy sources are greatly, if notentirely, reliant on their environmentalconditions.Methods that use storage rather than directpower application experience capacitorleakage. The experiment was begun by constructingwireless power transmitter circuit.Major components of the transmitter portionof the setup, are the solar panels, transmittingcoil, a 2N2222A transistor, and a 4.7kΩresistor. The transistor is for generating high-frequency AC current across the coil and thecoil is generating a magnetic field around it.Transmitter coil was constructed using copperwire (28 gauge), wounded 30 times at adiameter of approximately 6.6cm. The receiver portion of our setup was madeusing the same wire, with the same number ofwindings and diameter as our transmitter. Onelight-emitting diode (3.2V, 20mA) was placedin the receiving portion of our setup for thepurpose of indicating power transfer. Two 5V, 1.2W series connected solar panelsare used to transform solar energy toelectrical energy. The antennas are mounted in a verticalposition .We recorded some values for this setup.
