SC2012.179.17   COLLECTION NOTE     This collection includes information about the annual Dainty Festival of Louisville, Kentucky hosted by the Schnitzelburg German-American community.  “Dainty” is a street ball game in which a small stick is thrown to the ground and when it bounces up a flat, bat-like stick is used to hit it.  The smaller stick is then propelled airborne when hit like a baseball.  The object of the game is to hit the smaller stick as far as possible. Schnitzelburg is home to the World Dainty Championship, which is held every July.  Included are event programs from past Dainty Festivals, digital images, videotapes, and various articles about the festival.
