Abstract
Este artículo analiza una serie de poemas de Gwendolyn MacEwen pertenecientes a su
colección The Armies of the Moon (1972) en los que la escritora, partiendo de la simbología
del Agua, se inspira en los arquetipos de Caronte y la Luna para ilustrar su recorrido de
autoexploración hacia la profundidades del inconsciente. La alquimia, el gnosticismo, Jacob
Böhme y la psicología de C.G. Jung actúan a su vez como catalizadores de inspiración,
creatividad y conocimiento para alcanzar sus objetivos personales y literarios. Las teorías
psicoanalíticas de orientación junguiana, especialmente aquellas expuestas por Jung,
Campbell y Bachelard constituyen el enfoque teórico del análisis.This essay analises a group of poems by Gwendolyn MacEwen belonging to her collection
The Armies of the Moon (1972). She is inspired in the element of Water and the Charos and
the Moon archetypes to illustrate her journey of self-exploration towards the profundities
of her own unconscious. Alchemy, Jacob Böhme’s mysticism and C.G. Jung’s psychology
act, at the same time, as catalysts for inspiration, creativity and knowledge to reach her
personal and literary aims. The psychoanalytical Junguian theories, especially those suggested
by Jung, Campbell and Bachelard constitute the theoretical approach of the analysis
