As you will see, this topic hasbecome an important concept for Networked Business andElectronic Markets in particular. The more independentbusinesses collaborate to attain complex solutions for theircustomers, the more we face challenges of heterogeneousinformation structures and process designs. These semanticissues have the power to enable, but also to inhibit BusinessNetworking. We are therefore to our guest editors BorisOtto, Yang W. Lee and Ismael Caballero Muñoz-Reja whomade this special issue possible. They were supported bymany reviewers who invested significant effort to developthe four articles included in this special issue. Allcontributions are introduced by the guest editors in theirseparate editorial.In addition to these submissions, this issue also comprises aposition paper on “Information and Data Quality in BusinessNetworking: A Key Concept for Enterprises in its EarlyStages of Development”. Here, the three guest editors presentan analysis on how issues of data and information quality aswell as Business Networking have been discussed in theliterature and which questions arise for the future. As you willsee, there is a broad body of knowledge available on singleaspects which reflect the significance and the complexity ofdata and information quality issues in Business Networking.However, the analysis convincingly substantiates the lowmaturity of the field and points at the need for an overallconcept. We hope you find this position paper stimulating foryour research and would be happy to receive your opinions.Finally, two organizational aspects should be mentioned.First, each paper submitted as general research will beassigned a responsible Associate Editor for the entire “lifecycle” of the papers at Electronic Markets in the future.This includes the communication with the authors as wellas the reviewers with the ultimate goal to safeguardsubstantial feedback to the authors either when papers arerejected or returned for revisions, but also to develop apaper until publication. We hope that this contributes to thequality of papers in Electronic Markets and alwaysappreciate your suggestions for improvement. Second, thejournal website (www.electronicmarkets.org) has beenreorganized in order to facilitate the navigation and theretrieval of the desired content. In the future, the main menucontains ‘About EM, ‘Team’, ‘Ranking’, ‘Articles’ and‘Authors’ as well as information for potential ‘GuestEditors’.
