Pinedo-Villanueva 11Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, University of Oxford,Oxford, United Kingdom, 2Servicio de Geriatría, Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal (IRYCIS), Madrid, Spain,3Hospital Universitario Fundación Alcorcón, Instituto de Investigación Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid,SpainObjective: To describe available registry data and examine changes in key performance indicators (KPIs) byparticipating hospitals over varying lengths of membership in the registry.Methods: We conducted an exploratory descriptive analysis of % of total and early surgeries, length of stay,pre-surgical stay, pressure ulcers, and mortality (as % of admitted patients) between 2017 and 2021.Hospitals were grouped according to the number of years they participated in the registry during the period.Univariate regression was applied to assess the relationship between registry membership years and KPIs.Results: A total of 104 hospitals moved in and out of the registry over the period. Hospitals in the registryfor ≥2 years conducted between 35.5 % and 39.5% of surgeries within 48 hours, compared to 28.4% by thoseparticipating only 1 year. This was the only indicator significantly associated with the number of membershipyears in the registry (p =.003). Median length of stay was lower in hospitals with membership >2 yearscompared to hospitals with just 1 (8.4 - 8.7 days vs 9.91), as were median pre-surgical stay (48.0 - 51.4 hoursvs 63.9), pressure ulcers (4.2 - 5.9% vs 7.2%), and deaths within 30 days after hospital admission (8.2% -8.9% vs 10.6%). The % of surgeries fluctuated between groups (Table 1).Conclusions: Membership in the RNFC appears to help hospitals improve their performance when treatinghip fracture patients, although having hospitals join and leave the registry year-on-year adds furtherconfounding to analyses.
