Resumo: Neste artigo, vamos discutir brevemente duas narrativas, atribuídas a Rigoberta Menchú e Davi Kopenawa. As duas narrativas têm algumas características comuns: 1) são dirigidas a um público não ameríndio, embora estes autores sejam ameríndios; 2) descrevem elementos da cultura ameríndia; 3) apresentam fatos históricos referentes ao encontro da cultura ameríndia com a cultura abrangente, em seus respectivos países, partindo de uma perspectiva indígena; 3) foram originalmente publicadas em línguas diferentes daquelas de seus autores ameríndios – ou seja, foram mediadas por tradução; 4) foram organizadas e estruturadas por pessoas ligadas à cultura francesa, a partir de perspectivas disciplinares “ocidentais”: Antropologia ou Etnologia. Veremos de que modo estas narrativas – como muitas outras a que se atribui autoria indígena – são fonte de muitas questões que dizem respeito a autoria.

Abstract: In this article, we will briefly discuss two narratives, attributed to Rigoberta Menchú and Davi Kopenawa. These two narratives have some common features: 1) they are aimed at a non-Amerindian audience, although these authors are Amerindians; 2) They describe elements of the Amerindian culture; 3) they present historical facts regarding the cultural encounter of the Amerindian with the comprehensive culture, in Brazil and Guatemala, from an indigenous perspective; 3) they were originally published in languages other than those of their Amerindian authors – that is, they were mediated by translation; 4) they were organized and structured by people linked to French culture, in “Western” disciplinary approaches: Anthropology (Bruce Albert) or Ethnology (Elizabeth Burgos). We will see how these narratives – like many others to which indigenous authorship is attributed – are the source of many questions concerning authorship.
