What is intended in this article is to "follow the traces" of reading found in the books of Alcides de Freitas Cruz. It will characterize, in the first moment, general aspects of that library; then, it will discuss the uses of the library by the character; finally, there will be room for a reflection on the possible ways of identifying "reading traces" from the books themselves and the intellectual production of the character, in a joint perspective, taking into consideration propositions from Gadamerian hermeneutics.O que se pretende, neste artigo, é “seguir os rastros” de leitura encontrados nos livros de Alcides de Freitas Cruz. Caracterizar-se-á, em um primeiro momento, aspectos gerais daquela biblioteca; em seguida, se discutirá sobre os usos da biblioteca pelo personagem; por fim, haverá lugar para uma reflexão sobre as formas possíveis de identificação de “vestígios de leitura” a partir dos próprios livros e da produção intelectual do personagem, em perspectiva conjunta, levando em consideração proposições da hermenêutica gadameriana
