Este artigo está estruturado em quatro tópicos a serviço de estabelecer relações entre a racionalidade neoliberal e o autoritarismo fundamentalista, sempre de olho nas questões em gênero e sexualidade no terreno da Educação Básica.Inicialmente,desenha-seo contexto político e cultural recente no Brasil. Em seguida,discute-seo contexto político e cultural recente no Brasil, fazendo uso dos conceitos de neoliberalismo,de racionalidadeneoliberal,de democracia e de desdemocratizaçãoe de sujeito empreendedor. Posteriormente,o texto trata dos impasses envolvidos na abordagem dos temas em gênero e sexualidade na Educação Básica, a partir da etnografia de cenas escolares; além disso,lida com os conceitos de gênero; desexualidade; deideologia de gênero; depedagogias do gêneroe da sexualidade; e dediversidade e de pânico moral. Por fim,articulam-seas reflexões feitas nos tópicos anteriores ao uso da afirmação “o Estado faz o gênero e o gênero faz o Estado”, de forma a enfatizarque gênero,sexualidade e os elementos de ordem moral conservadora do atual Governo não são elementos acidentais do projeto de racionalidade neoliberal, mas, sim, estão em seu coração.This paperis structured in four topics in the service ofestablishingrelations between neoliberal rationality and fundamentalist authoritarianism, always keeping an eye on issues of gender and sexuality in the field of Basic Education. Initially, the recent political and cultural context in Brazil is outlined. Then, the recent political and cultural context in Brazil is discussed, making use of the concepts of neoliberalism, neoliberal rationality, democracy and de-democratization and the entrepreneurial subject.Subsequently, the textdeals with the impassesinvolvedin addressing issues of gender and sexuality in Basic Educationschool, based on the ethnography of school scenes; in addition, it deals with the concepts of gender; sexuality; gender ideology; pedagogies of gender and sexuality; and diversity and moral panic.Finally, the reflections made in the previous topics are articulated, using the statement “the State makes gender and gender makes the State”, in order to emphasize that gender, sexuality and the conservative moral elements of the current Government are not accidental elements of the neoliberal rationality project, but they are at its heart
