Acne in children

Abstract

This article focuses on the problem of acne in children. It is wrong to think that children have only acne vulgaris. Acne can occur in children at different ages, from birth. The activity of sebaceous glands and associated inflammatory reactions are largely defined by patient's age and hormonal alterations in the body, typical for this period. Various forms of acne in children have their own clinical features, differ significantly in prognosis and treatment. In some cases of acne in children, additional examination may be required to eliminate comorbidities. The study of patterns and characteristics of sebaceous glands inflammatory diseases course in different age periods of children and adolescents is an important issue, that will help early diagnostics, detection of comorbidity and the successful treatment of patients with these dermatoses. © 2019, Pediatria Ltd.
