In deze bijdrage wordt de ontwikkeling van de jeugdcriminaliteit in de afgelopen jaren beschreven en een beeld geschetst van de wijze waarop jeugdcriminaliteit wordt afgehandeld. Vervolgens worden enkele recente initiatieven beschreven en wordt nagegaan wat er bekend is over de resultaten van deze aanpak. Na een intermezzo waarin we de Nederlandse situatie in internationaal perspectief plaatsen, wordt afgesloten met een aantal suggesties en aandachtspunten
