PURPOSE: The purpose of this project is to collect stories of resilience for disaster survivors of the Jacksonville, AL tornado on March 19, 2018. According to the national Oral History Association, "Oral history refers both to a method of recording and preserving oral testimony and to the product of that process. It begins with an audio or video recording of a first-person account made by an interviewer with an interviewee (also referred to as a narrator), both of whom have the conscious intention of creating a permanent record to contribute to an understanding of the past. A verbal document, the oral history, results from this process and is preserved and made available in different forms to other users, researchers, and the public." DURATION: My interview is expected to last approximately two hours. PROCEDURES: I have been told that, during the interview, the following will occur: 1. I will be asked to provide an in-depth account of my personal experience with the tornado, my reflections about resilience, and what I will carry forward from the experience. 2. I agree to the audio recording of the interview portion of my participation. I understand that the recording will be transcribed and archived by the JSU Houston Cole Library. I also understand the recording(s) will be stored in a locked location accessible ·only to the researchers until the completion of the project. PARTICIPANTS: I will be one of approximately 50 participants to be interviewed for this study. RISKS/DISCOMFORTS: I have been told that the study described above may involve the following risks and/ordiscomforts:1. I may find it uncomfortable to speak openly about my experience or may have memoriesof difficult or traumatic experiences that happened from the tornado.2. I may be sharing personal experience that will be audio recorded.3. The public availability of the audio recording may diminish confidentiality.4. The interview may last a maximum of two hours.5.
