This text seeks an understanding of the historical and cultural processes of the Upper Rio Negro in more than two thousand years, focusing on the ancestral occupation of the region by its different indigenous peoples, whose interaction resulted in the formation of a peculiar regional system, involving an interdisciplinary dialogue of the results from the academic sciences (such as ethnology, archeology, historical linguistics, the historical record and discussions of historical ecology) with the knowledge and traditions of the peoples of this region, establishing links between past and present. In the end, it proposes questions about the occupation of the Eastern Tukano with some elements for this reconstruction from their oral traditions.
Este texto busca uma compreensão dos processos históricos e culturais do Alto Rio Negro em mais de dois mil anos, focalizando acerca da ocupação ancestral da região por seus diferentes povos indígenas, cuja interação resultou na formação de um sistema regional peculiar, envolvendo um diálogo interdisciplinar dos resultados das ciências acadêmicas (como a etnologia, a arqueologia, a linguística histórica, o registro histórico e discussões da ecologia histórica) com os conhecimentos e tradições dos povos dessa região, estabelecendo nexos entre o passado e o presente.
