Einhverfir nemendur í skólakerfinu : þekking og skilningur

Lokaður til...01.03.2023Það er erfitt að fanga alla þá þróun og þá breytingu sem átt hefur sér stað í þjónustu við einhverfa og fjölskyldur þeirra. Þegar viðfangsefnið er skoðað er ljóst að einhverfa hefur verið vinsælt rannsóknar- og umfjöllunarefni ólíkra sérfræðinga í gegnum tíðina. Mikill aragrúi er til af upplýsingum og fræðigreinum um efnið og hefur sá áhugi á einhverfu án efa skilað sér sem aukin þekking til fagfólks. Í skólakerfinu er mikil þörf fyrir þessa þekkingu og almennan skilning á þörfum nemenda með röskun á einhverfurófi. Umfjöllunarefni ritgerðarinnar er, einhverfir nemendur í skólakerfinu. Ég ákvað að byrja ritgerðina á almennum kafla um það hvað einhverfa er og hvernig við þekkjum einkennin. Því næst vildi ég skoða sögu einhverfunnar hér á Íslandi því að mínu mati getur verið mikilvægt að líta til baka og sjá þær breytingar sem hafa átt sér stað. Þriðji kaflinn ber heitið Gagnlegar leiðir í vinnu með einhverfum nemendum. Þar kanna ég mismunandi hugmyndafræði og kennsluverkfæri sem hægt er að nota. Að lokum fer ég yfir hlutverk kennara þegar unnið er með einhverfum nemendum, en sá kafli er skrifaður að mestu leyti út frá eigin hugmyndum og reynslu. Þar tek ég fyrir mismunandi aðstæður innan skólans og tengi við umfjöllunarefni ritgerðarinnar. Í ritgerðinni er lögð áhersla á kennsluaðferðir út frá myndrænu skipulagi, en slíkar aðferðir hafa það að markmiði að auka færni, sjálfstæði og betri líðan nemandans innan skólakerfisins.It is difficult to capture the development and changes that have taken place in the services regarding autistic children and their families. When looking at the term “autism” it is clear that the subject has been a popular topic of research and discussion by different experts throughout the years. Today there is a great deal of information and academic articles on the subject. The increased interest in the topic has undoubtedly resulted in increased knowledge for teachers and other professionals in the field. Having this kind of knowledge inside the school system is essential to better understanding students with autism as well as their needs and way of thinking. The topic of this paper is students with autism in the school system. I decided to start the paper with a general chapter about what autism is and how we can recognize its characteristics. In the following chapter, I wanted to look at the history of autism in Iceland, because in my opinion, it can be important to look back and see how things have changed. Chapter three describes useful ways of working with autistic students, where I explore different ideologies and teaching tools that can be used. In the last chapter, I look at the role of the teacher working with autistic students. That chapter mostly includes my own ideas and experience of teaching, where I discuss different scenarios inside the school and connect them with the topics of this paper. In the paper, the focus is on teaching methods based on visual learning. These methods aim to increase the student's skills, independence as well as their well being inside the school system
