This thesis focuses on the issue of intercommunucation between medical personnel and persons with mental disabilities. The aim is to explore various communication approaches and attitudes of medical personnel towards mentally disabled patients, especially during medical examinations, via qualitative research. The literary overview section describes theoretical starting points with emphasis on mentally disabled persons' communication, as well as levels of professionality in relationships towards them. The empirical section deals with research, conducted in a form of seventeen interviews with six mentally disabled participants, five medical personnel and six social workers, who accompany their clients for medical appointments. The findings were processed by using a method of thematic analysis. It concludes, that despite improvements in approaches and attitudes of medics towards mental patients, discrimination is still prevalent, especially in cases of hospitalization and new registration with doctors. The research also shows, that approximately half of medical personnel patronise their adult patients with mental disabilities and puts them into juvenile role. While the former claimed...Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou komunikace zdravotnického personálu s osobami s mentálním postižením. Cílem je prostřednictvím kvalitativního výzkumného šetření prozkoumat přístupy a postoje zdravotnického personálu k pacientům s mentálním postižením se zaměřením na komunikaci s nimi během lékařských vyšetření. Literárně přehledová část popisuje teoretická východiska se zaměřením na komunikaci osob s mentálním postižením a profesionalitu ve vztahu k osobám s mentálním postižením. Empirická část se zabývá výzkumným šetřením, jež bylo realizováno formou sedmnácti rozhovorů s šesti účastníky s mentálním postižením, pěti zdravotníky a šesti pracovníky sociálních služeb, jež své klienty k lékařům doprovází. Výsledky byly zpracovány metodou tematické analýzy a přináší zjištění, že i přes zlepšení postojů a přístupů zdravotníků k pacientům s mentálním postižením stále dochází k jejich diskriminaci, a to především v případě hospitalizace a registrace u nových lékařů. Z průzkumu také vyplývá, že zhruba polovina zdravotníků dospělým pacientům s mentálním postižením tyká a staví je do dětské role.
