Woodrow situates Wells' "post-aesthetic" paintings within the contexts of Conceptual art, Minimalism and Geometric Abstraction. He also calls attention to how the artist's work distances itself from Modernist painting by placing emphasis upon the cognitive-linguistic rather than the phenomenal/physical.
