Measures to Protect the River/channel Bank in Mekong Delta Towards Soft, Ecology and Environment-friendly Engineering

Abstract

The Mekong Delta is faced with the erosion of river/channel banks occurring on a large scale and at complicated and serious level, causing great losses to land, houses, property of the people, infrastructure, public works built on river/channel banks. This article presents some new technological measures towards soft, ecology and environment-friendly engineering for the protection of banks. The results of the pilot implementation of the soft measures in Tien Giang in 2014 and Ho Chi Minh city in 2017 have proved the feasibility of the measures because of low cost, simple construction, sustainable and environmentally friendly structure. These measures can be widely applied in localities in the Mekong Delta with the same conditions
