Abstract

A publication produced in the context of La Centrale’s 25th anniversary. It contains curatorial texts (by L. Simms, F. Dagenais and G. Bourgeois), exhibition reviews (by G. Letarte, V. Lamontagne and J. Mills) and theoretical essays by M. Régimbald-Zeiber and L. Sujir. In their introductory text, S. Gourlay and S. de Lotbinière-Harwood suggest the essays in “Textura” draw attention to the role of writing, visual art and curatorial practice within feminist art discourse. Issues of representation, power, gender and language are also discussed, as well as the singularities of feminist art from Quebec. Includes chronology of La Centrale’s activities from 1990-99.
