Dette projekt undersøger Vester Voldgade i et fodgængerperspektiv. Med en etnografisk kvalitativ metodisk tilgang er Vester Voldgade samt dens fodgængere blevet undersøgt, observeret og analyseret. Projektets teoretiske fundament tager afsæt i Tim Cresswells teori om steder og mobilitet. Dette suppleres med teori fra Tim Flohr Sørensen og Mikkel Bille samt James J. Gibson, der omhandler materialitet, affordance og bidrager med et designperspektiv til undersøgelsen. Yderligere indeholder projektet et teoretisk review, der afdækker international forskning indenfor walking og fodgængermobilitet med inddragelse af Ann Forsyth, Jan Gehl og Nicholas Blomley. Projektet konkluderer, at Vester Voldgade er et godt sted at gå, der er præget af, at man i planlægningen har prioriteret bløde trafikanter. Det har resulteret i grundlæggende gode fysiske vilkår for de gående og en grad af civic humanism indlejret i stedets materielle repræsentation. Vester Voldgade, som et meningsfuldt sted, er alligevel udfordret af, at stedets sense of place fremstår uklart. Stedets udfordringer relaterer sig til, at omdannelsens design taler dårligt sammen med gadens historicitet, men også gadens brug, som i høj grad er præget af gennemgang, og dermed i mindre grad bidrager til stedets produktion. Projektets konklusioner bidrager til fremtidigt arbejde med fodgængermobilitet i byerne, og helt konkret i forbindelse med Københavns Kommunes nuværende arbejde med udvikling af et fodgængernet i byen, i form af tre anbefalinger der skærper opmærksomheden på væsentlige detaljer i arbejdet med walkability i byen. Disse tre anbefalinger hviler på projektet hovedpointe at inddragelse af fodgængerperspektiver i planlægningen vil skabe bedre opmærksomhed omkring stedets oplevede sense of place, hvilket vil kunne kvalificere en bedre integrationen af nye byrum.This project examines Vester Voldgade from a pedestrian perspective. With an ethno-graphic qualitative methodological approach, Vester Voldgade and its pedestrians have been investigated, observed and analyzed. The project's theoretical foundation is based on Tim Cresswell's theory of places and mobility. This is supplemented with theory from Tim Flohr Sørensen and Mikkel Bille as well as James J. Gibson, who deals with materiali-ty, affordance and contributes with a design perspective to the study. In addition, the pro-ject contains a theoretical review that uncovers international research within walking and pedestrian mobility with the involvement of Ann Forsyth, Jan Gehl and Nicholas Blomley.The project concludes that Vester Voldgade is a good place to walk, characterized by the fact that soft road users have been prioritized in the planning. This has resulted in basical-ly good physical conditions for pedestrians, and a degree of civic humanism embedded in the material representation of the place. But Vester Voldgade as a meaningful place is nev-ertheless challenged by the fact that the sense of place appears unclear. The challenge re-lates to the fact that the newer design isn't fully integrated with the historicity of the street, and the preferred practices of the street, which is largely characterized by passage, and thus contributes to a lesser extent to the production of a meaningful place.The project's conclusions contribute to future work with pedestrian mobility in the cities, and specifically in connection with Copenhagen Municipality's current work with the de-velopment of a pedestrian network in the city, in the form of three recommendations that sharpen attention to important details in the work with walkability in the city.These three recommendations rest on the project's main point that the inclusion of pedes-trian perspectives in the planning will create better awareness of the place's perceived sense of place, which will be able to qualify better planning for pedestrians in new urban places.<br/
