The concept of biodiversity is the derivation of ecological processes, such as competition, natural selection and speciation, therefore within education they are recognized as fundamental within the teaching of biology, constituting an interdisciplinary element, which is why, in this work, the following are some of the most important elements in the teaching of biology. is integrated to ethnobotany with the purpose of being applied as a strategy for the teaching of biodiversity, becoming an effective tool in the recognition of botanical concepts and popular knowledge in this community. The study was conducted in the Puerta Roja neighborhood, and semi-structured interviews were applied to 30 students of the community, transmitting their knowledge about medicinal plant species. Through a mixed approach, 16 medicinal plants were registered, comprised in 14 families where the Lamiaceae Rutaceae and Fabaceae families stand out, showing a high diversity in terms of the vegetation present in this rural areaEl concepto de biodiversidad es la derivación de procesos ecológicos, tales como la competencia, selección natural y especiación, por lo tanto dentro de la educación se reconocen como fundamentales dentro de la enseñanza de la biología, constituyéndose como un elemento interdisciplinar, es por ello que, en este trabajo, se integra a la etnobotánica con el propósito de aplicarse como estrategia para la enseñanza de la biodiversidad, logrando constituirse como una herramienta eficaz en el reconocimiento de conceptos botánicos y de saberes populares en esta comunidad. El estudio se realizó en el barrio Puerta Roja, se aplicaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a 30 estudiantes de la comunidad, transmitiendo sus conocimientos sobre especies vegetales medicinales. Mediante un enfoque mixto, se logró registrar 16 plantas medicinales, comprendidas en 14 familias donde se destaca la familia Lamiaceae Rutaceae y Fabaceae mostrando una alta diversidad en cuanto a la vegetación presente en esta zona rural
