Evento realizado pela Associação Nacional de Pesquisa em Ciência da Informação (ANCIB) e organizado pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Informação da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (PGCIN-/UFSC).Otlet e La Fontaine lançam, em 1895, as bases de um esforço de cooperação internacional com a criação do Instituto Internacional de Bibliografia. Sob esta ótica, esta comunicação busca evidenciar a criação e implementação do Serviço de Bibliographia e Documentação na Biblioteca Nacional como reflexo do contato da instituição com os ideais do Instituto. Utiliza como método a revisão bibliográfica do tema e a busca por evidências de tal contato, com base nos textos de Ortega (2009), Fonseca (1957, 1973) e Rayward (1975), além da consulta aos relatórios da Biblioteca publicados em seus Anais. Conclui que o Serviço de Bibliographia e Documentação é um reflexo dos ideais difundidos pelo Instituto Internacional de Bibliografia e que a Biblioteca fez parte do esforço de cooperação internacional apregoado por Otlet e La Fontaine.Otlet and La Fontaine launch in 1895, the foundation of an international cooperative effort with the creation of the International Institute of Bibliography. Under this view, this communication seeks to demonstrate the creation and implementation of the Bibliography and Documentation Service of the National Library reflecting the institution's contact with the ideals of the Institute. Used as a method to a bibliographic review and search for evidence of such contact, therefore, makes use of texts Ortega (2009), Fonseca (1957, 1973) and Rayward (1975), in addition to consulting the Library’s reports published in his Proceedings. Concludes that the Bibliography and Documentation Service is a reflection of the ideals disseminated by the International Institute of Bibliography and that the Library was part of the effort of international cooperation heralded by Otlet and La Fontaine
