A escrita deste trabalho consiste em um ensaio teórico elaborado a partir dos estudos de Bunseki Fu-Kiau sobre a cosmologia bakongo e o cuidado e a educação de crianças. Serão levantadas reflexões sobre alguns princípios dessa cultura para pensar como tem sido a educação de crianças no Brasil, e como ela ainda pode ser. Em um primeiro momento, apresento uma breve introdução à cosmologia bakongo, seguida do primeiro aspecto a ser observado e discutido: o espaço onde as crianças vivem suas experiências educativas. O aspecto seguinte diz respeito às relações que se estabelecem entre as crianças, bem como entre as crianças e os adultos. Por fim, apresento inferências e reflexões sobre a importância de recuperar em culturas tradicionais princípios educativos que podem ser englobados no cuidado e educação de crianças no Brasil.The writing of this work consists of a theoretical essay elaborated from the study of Bunseki Fu-Kiau on the Bakongo cosmology and the care and education of children. Reflections are made on some of this culture’s principles to think on how the education of children in Brazil has been, and how it could be. Firstly, I present a brief introduction to the Bakongo cosmology, followed by the first aspect to be discussed: the space where children live through their educational experiences. The following aspect is the relationships established between the children, as well as between children and adults. Finally, I infer and reflect on the importance of retrieving from traditional cultures educational principles that can be englobed in the care and education of children in Brazi
