Este artigo apresenta resultado de análise de entrevistas realizadas com quinze professores de matemática, todos regentes em escolas do campo localizadas em uma mesma cidade de zona rural do interior do Rio Grande do Sul. Desta forma, buscamos vislumbrar as concepções dos docentes entrevistados acerca do modus operandi de abordar matemática em sala de aula e se estas refletem suas práticas e metodologias no contexto sociocultural campesino. Nessa via, a Educação Matemática do Campo, subárea da Educação Matemática (EM) é capaz de subsidiar e engendrar significados para sujeitos do campo e suas práticas. Além da evidente preocupação com uma formação continuada, há que se observar o discurso do utilitarismo tão amplamente difundido no meio discente. Ressaltamos que se esta questão se sobrepuser ao entendimento de que a Matemática é linguagem instituída nas perspectivas da sociedade, cultura, ciência e historicamente organizada, haverá a redução da mesma ao viés do cotidiano, subjugando-a a meras aplicações.This article introduce the results of an analysis of interviews conducted with fifteen mathematics teachers, all of them teaching in rural schools located in the same city of the rural area of the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In this way, we sought to glimpse the conceptions of the professors interviewed about the modus operandi of approaching mathematics in the classroom and if these conceptions reflect their practices and methodologies in the socio-cultural peasant context. In this way, Field Mathematics Education, Subarea of Mathematical Education (MS) is able to subsidize and generate meanings for countryside people and their practices. Besides the evident preoccupation with a continuous training, it is necessary to observe the discourse of the utilitarianism so widely diffused in the student environment. We emphasize that if this question were to overlap with the understanding that mathematics is a language instituted in the perspectives of society, culture, science and historically organized, it will be reduced to the bias of everyday life, subjugating it to mere applications
