Due to the increase in automobile production and the large production of the pneumatic
industry, the growth of irregular disposal of waste tires is notorious, causing damage to the
environment and public health. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the reverse logistics in
the management of the waste tire chain in the city of Araguaína/TO. Specifically, it sought to
identify whether companies apply Brazilian legislation on waste tyres; verify how companies
are applying reverse logistics as a strategy to reduce excess tires, encouraging the population
to be aware of the correct disposal; and describe practices, solutions and barriers encountered
in the waste tire chain. This research is classified as a field study, with a qualitative approach
and a descriptive and exploratory nature. Data were collected through a questionnaire in ten
resellers and tire shops in the municipality of Araguaína. From the data collected, it was
observed that there is a portion of tire repair shops that are unaware of reverse logistics, as
well as the CONAMA legislation that regulates the correct disposal of tires, it was also
identified that there is a deficiency in the disposal of unserviceable tires, both due to lack of
information, as well as the difficulty of moving the tires to the collection point provided by
the city hall, which makes it possible to increase the incorrect disposal of waste tires in vacant
lots and on the edges of highwaysDevido ao aumento na produção de automóvel e a grande produção da indústria pneumática, é
notório o crescimento do descarte irregular dos pneus inservíveis, causando danos, ao meio
ambiente e à saúde pública. Diante disso, este estudo teve o objetivo de analisar a logística
reversa no gerenciamento da cadeia dos pneus inservíveis na cidade de Araguaína/TO.
Especificamente buscou identificar se as empresas fazem aplicação da legislação brasileira
sobre pneus inservíveis; verificar de que forma as empresas estão aplicando a logística reversa
como estratégia para reduzir o excesso de pneus, incentivando a população a se conscientizar
sobre o descarte correto; e descrever práticas, soluções e as barreiras encontradas na cadeia
dos pneus inservíveis. Esta pesquisa é classificada como estudo de campo, com abordagem
qualitativa e natureza descritiva e exploratória. Os dados foram coletados através de um
questionário em dez revendedoras e borracharias no município de Araguaína. A partir dos
dados coletados observou-se que existe uma parcela de borracharias que desconhece a
logística reversa, bem como a legislação do CONAMA que regulamenta o descarte correto
dos pneus, também foi identificado que há uma deficiência no descarte de pneus inservíveis,
tanto por falta de informação, quanto pela dificuldade de deslocamento dos pneus até o ponto
de recolhimento disponibilizado pela prefeitura do munícipio, o que possibilita o aumento do
descarte incorreto dos pneus inservíveis em terrenos baldios e margens de rodovia
