Artykuł przedstawia historię i strukturę organizacyjną Katedry Historii Wychowania działającej przy Uniwersytecie w Białymstoku od 1980 roku. Autor ukazał główne obszary badań naukowych podejmowanych przez pracowników Katedry, jak też ich dorobek naukowy i organizacyjny. Z uwagi na obchody Jubileuszu 40-lecia działalności Katedry Historii Wychowania kierowanej przez Profesor dr hab. Elwirę J. Kryńską w artykule przedstawiono główne założenia Międzynarodowej Konferencji Naukowej „Dziecko w historii – między godnością a zniewoleniem”, która odbyła się w dniach 24-25 maja 2021 roku.The article presents the history and organizational structure of the Department of the History of Education operating at the University of Bialystok since 1980. The author presented the main areas of research undertaken by the employees of the Department, as well as their scientific and organizational achievements. Due to the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Department of History of Education headed by Professor dr hab. Elwira J.
