The usefulness of selected species and cultivars of willows for the enrichment of the feeding base of deer family in the Notecka Forest

Abstract

A number of willow varieties and cultivars may be used as the components of the feeding base for deer family. It should be clarified which willow varieties and cultivars are especially preferred as their feed and are not too demanding with regard to their site and maintain their vitality for a long time withstanding eating deer. The Notecka Forest is a large forest complex, where conifer sites are in dominant. However, it is possible to find fragments of forest with the better water conditions, where the introduction of willows may be very advantageous
