Technological changes in fodder maize cultivation in relation to weed infestation and yield

Abstract

Maize was cultivated in five field cereal-maize crop rotation with: fodder maize, fodder maize, spring barley, oat and winter wheat. In 1991-1995 the weed infestation and level of maize yield were investigated in relation to applied herbicides, forecrop and with application or omission of deep ploughing. The kind of applied herbicides affected significantly both the weed infestation and yields. Deep ploughing diminished the weed infestation on an average by ca. 12% but it did not influence maize yields. No significant effect of forecrop on the studied parametres was found
