The role of school in the social environment in the teachers’ opinion : research reports

Abstract

Kryzysy ostatnich lat powodują rosnące oczekiwania względem sektora publicznego, jako tego, który gwarantuje ciągłość i stabilność podstawowych funkcji państwa. Oświata, poza wyjątkami stanowi kompetencję jednostek samorządu terytorialnego i jest zadaniem własnym gmin, co oznacza, że służy zaspokajaniu potrzeb wspólnoty, zgodnie z zasadą decentralizacji i subsydiarności. Szkoła to nie tylko miejsce przekazywania wiedzy, ale instytucja, która pełni w środowisku społecznym uczniów wiele ról i przyczynia się do budowania kapitału społecznego czy rozwoju społeczeństwa obywatelskiego. Jak rolę szkoły w środowisku widzą nauczyciele? Rozdział prezentuje wyniki badania jakościowego, przeprowadzonego w grudniu 2020 roku. Badania pozwoliły wyodrębnić dziesięć ról, które szkoła w opinii respondentów pełni w środowisku, jest to rola edukacyjna, wychowawcza, popularyzatorska, wyrównująca szanse, socjalizująca i integrująca, wspierająca, przekazywania wartości, tradycji i kultury, interwencyjna, współpracy z rodzicami oraz diagnozy sytuacji dziecka w środowisku. Wskazywane role różnią się w zależności od lokalizacji szkoły.The crises of recent years have resulted in growing expectations towards the public sector as the one that guarantees the continuity and stability of the basic functions of the state. Education, apart from exceptions, is the competence of local government units and is the commune's own task, which means that it serves to meet the needs of the community, in accordance with the principle of decentralisation and subsidiarity. School is not only a place of imparting knowledge, but an institution that plays many roles in the social environment of students and contributes to building social capital or the development of civil society. How do teachers see the role of school in the environment? This chapter presents the results of a qualitative study conducted in December 2020. The research allowed distinguishing ten roles that the school, in the opinion of the respondents, plays in the environment, it is an educational, upbringing, popularising role, equalising opportunities, socialising and integrating, supporting, transferring values, tradition and culture, intervention, cooperation with parents, and diagnosis of the child's situation in environment. The roles indicated vary depending on the location of the school
