Defense of Poland's independence and the Bolshevik project of "permanent revolution"

Abstract

W artykule wyjaśniono sytuację geopolityczną i sprzeczności interesów odrodzonej Polski i bolszewickiej Rosji w pierwszych latach po zakończeniu I wojny światowej. Autor ukazał z jednej strony dążenia Polski do zapewnienia sobie bezpieczeństwa w obliczu zamętu panującego w Rosji wstrząsanej wojną domową oraz doświadczającej bolszewickiego terroru, a z drugiej zamierzenia władz komunistycznych wynikające z przyjęcia doktryny „permanentnej rewolucji”. Analiza interesów i dążeń Polski oraz bolszewickiej Rosji przybliża do zrozumienia okoliczności, dzięki którym jeden z najgroźniejszych dla zachodniej cywilizacji projektów geopolitycznych mógł zostać udaremniony przez Polskę, broniącą świeżo odzyskanej niepodległości.The article explains the geopolitical situation and conflicts of interests of reborn Poland and Bolshevik Russia in the first years after the end of World War I. The author showed, on the one hand, Poland's aspirations to ensure security in the face of the turmoil in Russia, shaken by civil war and experiencing Bolshevik terror, and on the other, the intentions of the communist authorities resulting from the adoption of the doctrine of "permanent revolution". Analysis of the interests and aspirations of Poland and Bolshevik Russia brings us closer to understanding the circumstances thanks to which one of the most dangerous geopolitical projects for Western civilization could have been thwarted by Poland, defending newly regained independence
