Characteristic of forms of iron occurrence in selected metallurgical wastes

Abstract

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań mineralogiczno-geochemicznych kilku rodzajów odpadów hutniczych powstałych w różnych procesach związanych z produkcją żelaza i stali, a także żeliwa i staliwa. Uwagę skupiono na zawartości w nich żelaza oraz formach i sposobie jego powiązania ze składnikami odpadów. Żelazo, które w wymienionych procesach hutniczych stanowi najistotniejszy pierwiastek, może również w pewnej części przechodzić do materiału odpadowego. W związku z tym coraz częściej pojawiają się plany wtórnego odzysku żelaza z odpadów lub bezpośredniego zawracania materiału odpadowego do procesu hutniczego. Podejmowanie tego typu decyzji wymusza konieczność poznania form występowania żelaza w odpadach. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że pierwiastek ten może występować zarówno w postaci metalicznej, jak również tworzyć własne fazy siarczkowe lub tlenkowe oraz występować w postaci podstawień w strukturze wewnętrznej faz krzemianowych oraz być rozproszony w szkliwie.Article presents the results of mineralogical and geochemical research of several types of metallurgical wastes produced in various processes associated with the production of iron and steel as well as cast iron and cast steel. Attention has been focused on the content of iron as well as forms of iron occurrence and its relationships with waste components. Iron, which in metallurgical processes is one of the most important elements, can also move to the waste material. As a result, more andmore often, there are plans of the secondary recovery of iron from wastes or recycling of waste material direct for the metallurgical processes. Before taking such decisions, it is necessary to know the forms of iron occurrence in wastes.
