Analyzers for monitoring the quality of coal in mechanical coal processing facilities and laboratories

Abstract

Od ponad 35 lat Instytut EMAG specjalizuje się w opracowywaniu systemów i urządzeń do ciągłej kontroli oraz pomiaru laboratoryjnego parametrów jakościowych węgla, a także we wdrażaniu danych urządzeń na kopalniach i elektrowniach. Systemy te, bazujące na rozwiniętej technice radiometrycznej, takiej jak: rozproszenie wsteczne promieniowania gamma (systemy ALFA 06) oraz absorbcja dwuenergetycznej wiązki promieniowania gamma (ALFA-06/2E popiołomierz, ALFA-06/3E system), znalazły szerokie zastosowanie w Polsce. Obecnie ponad 40 systemów do ciągłej analizy jest stosowanych w Polsce w kopalniach węgla kamiennego i brunatnego. W ostatnim czasie został opracowany popiołomierz RODOS, który służy do ciągłej analizy, bazującej na pomiarze naturalnej promieniotwórczości gamma węgla kamiennego. Rozwiązanie to znalazło szerokie zastosowanie. W artykule dokładnie opisano popiołomierz RODOS oraz przedstawiono uzyskane przy zastosowaniu danego miernika i wagi taśmociągowej wyniki pomiarów popiołu zawartego w węglu kamiennym i brunatnym. Omówiono również możliwości i korzyści, które powstały w wyniku zastosowania systemu w podziemiu i na powierzchni kopalń. Przedstawiono także urządzenia do kontroli jakościowej węgla w laboratoriach kopalnianych jak również na zwałach, wagonach lub samochodach, takie jak przenośny popiołomierz WALKER oraz analizator GAMMA NATURA.For over 35 years the EMAG Institute has specialized in the development of systems and devices for on-line monitoring and laboratory measurements of coal quality parameters, as well as the implementation of such devices in coal mines and electrical power engineering plants. These systems are based on extended radiometric technology, such as: gamma radiation backscattering (ALFA 06 systems) and dual absorption of the gamma radiation beam (ALFA-06/2E ash meter, ALFA-06/3E system). They have found application in many places in Poland. Currently, there are over 40 on-line analysis systems working in Polish hard coal and brown coal mines. Recently, the RODOS ash meter has been developed for on-line analysis based on the measurement of natural gamma radiation of hard coal. This solution has been widely used as well. The article features the description of the RODOS ash meter and presents the measurement results of ash content in hard and brown coal, obtained with the use of a given meter and belt conveyor scales. Additionally, the possibilities and benefits were discussed regarding the use of the system in the underground and on the surface of a mine. Finally, the authors presented devices for monitoring the quality of coal in mine laboratories, on dumps, wagons, and trucks, such as the WALKER portable ash meter and GAMMA NATURA analyzer
