The purpose of this paper was to examine the relationship between religiosity and attitudes toward death. A questionnaire about religiosity and multidimensional attitudes toward death was administered to 311 students (mean age 18.93 years). In this paper, I defined religiosity consisted of religious affiliation, religious behaviors, and religious beliefs which was measured by Kaneko (1997)'s scale of Japanese folk religious beliefs. In this sample, 21.9 ％ of Ss affiliated religion, and others did not. The former showed higher scores for beliefs of meaning of death for life, and existence of afterlife than the latter. The multiple regression analysis was conducted on each subscale of attitudes toward death. The dependent variables were religiosity indices, and indicies of experience of thinking over death and frequency of thinking about death. The results revealed that Japanese folk religious beliefs were partly related to attitudes toward death, but the effects were very small except for "belief in existence of afterlife" scale of death attitude.
