The atmospheric boundary layer (ABL), as with all turbulent boundary layers, is composed of flow structures which can be described as eddies or coherent structures, all of which contain a form of vortex. These flow structures are of all sizes, ranging from sub millimetres to the boundary layer thickness, and in the case of the ABL there are cyclonic weather systems that are much larger still. This paper discusses the static pressure signature of these flow structures and their observed influence on wind loads.</p
