Los equipamientos urbanos como instrumentos para la construcción de ciudad y ciudadanía

Abstract

Urban facilities have historically played a fundamental role as spaces that allow citizens to exercise their right over the city. How do architecture and urbanism actually contribute to guarantee this right? How do the facilities give an advantage to the construction of the city and citizens through better environmental integration? In some cities in the country the development of new and important facilities, constructed by improving already existing infrastructure, has led to the reduction of an accumulated “social debt”. However, there are still many challenges to be faced on the road to strengthening the processes of social inclusion and to achieving the optimal functioning of these spaces in relation to their environment
