THE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES AND ITS INTEGRATION TO THE UNIVERSITY EDUCATION: A LOOK TO THE FUTURE / LAS TECNOLOGÍAS DE LA INFORMACIÓN Y LA COMUNICACIÓN Y SU INTEGRACIÓN A LA EDUCACIÓN UNIVERSITARIA: UNA MIRADA AL FUTURO

Abstract

In this paper we offer a current look to the panorama of rapid development of the information and communication technologies (ICT), its trends and challenges, as well as its impact on the university education and in specific in the skills that must be formed in future professionals to be prepared to face the challenges of the knowledge society. This vision of the main trends and challenges of the ICT integration in the field of education is offered on the basis of the results of important international research and projects: the 2013 Horizon Report (New Media Consortium), the “Future Work Skills 2020” Report, developed by the Institute for the Future of the University of Phoenix (2011) and the research report “The new generation learning systems for 2020”, published by EDUTEKA and developed by “Federation for Learning” from USA. The integration of ICT is analyzed from a didactic and psycho-pedagogical perspective, offering a look at the main theoretical and methodological approaches that sustain their application in the pedagogical models in the modern universities. RESUMEN En este trabajo se ofrece una mirada muy actual al panorama de rápido desarrollo de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC), sus tendencias y retos, así como su impacto en la educación universitaria y en específico en las habilidades que se deben formar en los futuros profesionales para que lleguen al mundo laboral preparados para enfrentar los retos de la sociedad del conocimiento. Esta visión de las principales tendencias y retos de la integración de las TIC más avanzadas al campo de la educación se realiza en base a los resultados de investigaciones y proyectos internacionales: el Reporte Horizonte del 2013 (New Media Consortium), el reporte “Future Work Skills 2020”, por el Instituto para el Futuro del Instituto de Investigación de la Universidad de Phoenix (2011) y el reporte de investigación “Los Sistemas de Aprendizaje de Nueva Generación para el 2020”, publicado por EDUTEKA y desarrollado por la “Federación para el Aprendizaje” de EE UU. Se analiza la integración de las TIC desde una perspectiva didáctica y psicopedagógica, así como se brinda una mirada a los principales enfoques teóricos y metodológicos que sustentan su aplicación en los modelos pedagógicos de las universidades modernas
