Abstract

A product is an artifact that mirroring the culture it expressed and also the changing agent of the same culture. In the case of consumerism, a product perform as a sign that is being manipulated for marketing communication. In Profanisation and Sacralization phenomenon the ideological identity that was formed in religion is now being contended in consumerism through the exploitation of the value of the sacred and the profane in an object. This research will be conducted in using marketing semiotic and ethnography to analyze the problem through the eye of the market. Based on the analysis and the review conducted, this research concludes a relation that links between a product design, religion and consumerism in the context of the phenomenon. This relation can be summed up as a market opportunity in faith-based design
