Abstract

The post office as a public facility which serves delivery service provider and nonbank financial institutions still has limitations because of the unequal location spreading in Semarang. Most of post offices branch have a contract period of 3 to 5 years. Therefore, this research aims to analysis a determining locations of new post offices in Semarang city by utilizing spatial data which have been obtained from field surveys through Buffering and overlay methods using ArcGIS 9.3.Internet is an information tool which is fast and cheap so that it is very suitable for the GIS (Geographic Information System) development. Besides, GIS is developed based on the Internet via web media known as WebGIS. The existence of the Internet as an information and communication technology that affect human life at this time provides a lot of convenience, one of which allows people to search for informations andlocations.Due to lack and staticinformation about the post offices in Semarang, this study examines the distribution of post office in Semarang by creating a Web GIS application using the Google Maps API. As an alternative to provide fast, accurate and up to date nformations, it uses the programming language HTML and PHP. And therefore the basis of the site pages presented and supported by a MySQL database on Windows 7 operating system.
