Teknologi Ukir Krawangan Pada Bambu Betung (Dendrocalamus Asper)

Abstract

Dendrocalamus Asper (Betung Bamboo) is a type of bamboo with thick culm wall, which is have good potential in Indonesia but the utilization still relatively abundant. Betung Bamboo also has a weakness and difficulty in carving, that will be investigated to find a solution from this study. In the implementation of pilot activities to the manufacture of interior accessories krawangan on Betung bamboo carving techniques, the process consists of: preparation of materials (cutting, curing and drying), the design ofthe product design (the source of inspiration, sketches and working drawings alternative), and manufacturing products (including : the formation of global / scratch, making krawangan, carving and finishing). Fromthe results showed that the holling technique (krawangan) with four times thedrill hole is then forwarded with hand saws jig saw obtained an average speed (4x5.1) + 20 = 40.4 seconds for the hole size 3-4 cm, thick 1.5cm straight curved shape variation, in bamboo shalf-wet conditions (magel). This means 5 times faster than the manual sculpting (209.1 seconds), and the results are neater and cleaner. The best conditions for making krawangan is half wet conditions (magel) the water content of 30-60% bamboo
