Semarang district is a district in Central Java province in which the district's population growth has increased each year semarang with the increase in population growth would affect land-use change and declining green open spaces and most importantly affects the surface temperature changes in the district of Semarang. Decreasing availability of green open space for urban effect on surface temperature in urban areas , where the temperature greatly affect the survival of living beings humans are no exception.Using remote sensing methods can be used to calculate changes in the area of vegetation index and surface temperature in Semarang district in 1997, 2002, 2013 and 2015. In this study, analysis using Landsat 5 satellite images of 1997, Landsat 7 satellite images of 2002, Landsat 8 satellite images of 2013 and 2015 as well as using DEM SRTM image to determine the temperature based on elevation data. Surface temperature values obtained from processing the thermal band of Landsat satellite images were then correlated with changes in vegetation using raster correlation. Results showed in 1997 and 2002 class surface temperature is dominated class of 29 ° C-31 ° C, but the class is on the wane in 2013, the dominant class in year 2013 class of 32 ° C-34 ° C, while the results of the temperature using DEM SRTM image of the dominant class is the class of 23 ° C-25 ° C. The test results using method raster correlation between changes in vegetation on the surface temperature obtained correlation value by 46% between 2002 to 2013
