This study investigates how The Green Student Movement’s earlier experiences help shape the movement’s reflections on forward-looking strategies. Being an active member of the movement myself I had prior to the project assumptions about how negotiations and decision-making progress. Thus, the aim of the project is to understand how the movement negotiates and come to a collective understanding of the narrative, self-understanding and strategic decisions of the movement. The empirical data consists of an opinion-based survey targeted at the active members of the movement, two group interviews with active members of the Copenhagen branch, and observations during the movement’s national meeting in April. The analysis of the empirical data is based on a theoretical focus inspired by the Three-phase model of strategic adaptation introduced in the study “Narrating political opportunities: explaining strategic adaptation in the climate movement” (2019) by Joost de Moor and Matias Wahlström. Based on the study I conclude that the movement constructs a self-understanding and narratives about the movement based on earlier experiences. Then, these are shaping the negotiations and reflections on forward-looking strategies. Moreover, the informal decision-making in the movement contributes to people who hold a lot of academic knowledge, who are located in Copenhagen are more prominent voices of the movement. This can have a negative impact on the mobilization ability of the movement and lead to divisions between the active members.<br/
