Målet med projektet er at undersøge hvordan man kan formidle fysik, specifikt kvantefysik, udenfor det traditionelle uddannelsessystem, så det bidrager til almendannelsen. Almendannelse defineres og der argumenteres for, at fysik understøtter denne gennem: et fælles fysisk verdensbillede, kendskab til fysiks betydning for teknologi og samfundet, og kendskab til fysikkens epistemologiske grundlag. En normativ beskrivelse af videnskab, baseret på den videnskabelige attitude, præsenteres. Et forslag til en kort workshop om kvantefysik, der fokuserer på den epistemologiske baggrund for udviklingen af kvantefysik, beskrives. Forløbet indeholder et oplæg, der evalueres gennem interviews med voksne uden naturvidenskabelig baggrund, der har set oplægget. Det vurderes at oplægget lykkes med at formidle kvantefysiks betydning for elektronik, teoriers tentative natur, vigtigheden af evidens, og den kvalitative forskel på kvantefysikkens og den klassiske fysiks forudsigelser. Oplægget lykkes ikke med at formidle modellers rolle i videnskaben, forskningsfællesskabets rolle i vurderingen af evidens og teorier, eller en karakterisering af videnskbaelige teorier.The aim of this project is to investigate how to communicate physics, and specifically quantum physics, outside the traditional education system, in such a way that it contributes to the general education (bildung) of the public. The term general education is defined, and it is argued, that physics can contribute through: formation of a common physical worldview, knowledge of the significance of physics for technology and society, and knowledge of the epistemological foundation for physics. A normative account of science, based on the scientific attitude is presented. A proposal for a short educational programme about quantum physics is described, which emphasises the epistemological basis for the development of quantum physics. The programme includes a talk, which is evaluated through interviews with non-scientists, who have seen the talk. The talk is found to successfully communicate knowledge of quantum physics role in electronics, the tentative nature of theories, the importance of evidence, and the qualitative difference between the predictions of quantum physics and classical physics. The talk is not successful in communicating the role of scientific models, the importance of the scientific community for evaluating evidence, and what constitutes a scientific theory
