Adsorption of Cooper and Cadmium From Aqueous Solutions Using Sulfurized Activated Carbon Derived From Sewage Sludge

Abstract

The excessive existence of heavy metals in nature is very dangerous. Many methods are used to remove heavy metals, such as precipitation and ion exchange but they have many drawbacks such as high cost and time consuming. Adsorption using sludge-based adsorbent is a promising and cheap technique to remove heavy metals and help in handling the annual increasing of sludge volume. In this study, sewage sludge based sulfurized activated carbon (SAC) was prepared and investigated for Copper and Cadmium removal in batch and column studies
