This efort is in response to communications with multiple cultural memory institutions who have reported that publishers are no longer microfilming their newspapers to provide copies to libraries.  The value of these colections to the partnering library and newspa-per has demonstrated itself in the form of usage statistics, refer-ence questions, and of course cultural preservation. In pursuit of preserving their own community identity, the University of Dalas has partnered with UNT Libraries to digitaly preserve and make available its campus newspaper, the University News. Presented August 9 for Technet 2012By Ana Krahmer & Joseph HoweUNT Libraries’ Texas Digital Newspaper Program seeks to digitaly preserve and provide Web access to any Texas newspaper, no mater the age, and this is an efort to maintain as complete a chronology of a community’s history as pos-sible. Most recently, UNT Libraries’ Digital News-paper team has begun working with publishers and their local libraries to preserve PDF print master newspapers.
