Cet article analyse la participation à l’emploi dans les entreprises d’insertion sociale à Montréal par rapport aux emplois précaires sur les marchés du travail. Deux hypothèses le structurent. D’une part, l’insertion sociale et l’employabilité représentent une double déclinaison du concept sociologique qu’elles labellisent. D’autre part, tout en étant dérogatoire au statut de travailleur, le statut de participant dans une entreprise d’insertion sociale à Montréal est bien meilleur que certaines formes de précarité sur le marché. Justement, parce que le traitement des participants est plus humain et moins enclin au mépris social et le revenu est constant.This article analyses employment in agencies for social integration in Montreal as compared to precarious jobs in the labour force. It does so around two hypotheses. On the one hand, one might argue that social integration and employability represent two versions of the sociological concept they identify. On the other hand, while recognising that the status is less than that of a worker, being a participant in such an agency is better than certain forms of labour market precariousness because the treatment of participants is more humane and less likely to involve social contempt while providing a reliable income
