Abstract
En este artículo se busca responder a la pregunta ¿Qué rol tienen las regiones en la internacionalización/globalización educativa? a través de la experiencia comparada de la Unión Europea y el MERCOSUR entre los años 1987 y 2015. Ambos incluyeron la educación superior como tema prioritario en sus agendas de integración, con mayor énfasis que otras regiones del mundo. De allí nuestro interés por entender esta excepcionalidad y conocer las razones y/o motivaciones que llevaron a los respectivos gobiernos a involucrar su estructura y recursos institucionales en este empeño. Del mismo modo, este artículo se propone comparar los resultados alcanzados en ambos bloques en términos de la construcción institucional. Con ello esperamos contribuir al debate académico, proponiendo una alternativa argumentativa en el escenario actual de la academia.What is the role of the regions in the internationalization/globalization of education? This article seeks to answer this question through the comparison between the European Union and mercosur experiences, from 1987 to 2015. Both blocks included higher education as a priority issue in their integration agendas, with more emphasis than other regions of the world. This raised the authors’ interest in understanding this uniqueness and getting to know the reasons and/or motivations of their respective governments to involve their structures and institutional resources in this effort. Likewise, this article aims to compare the results achieved by both blocks in terms of institutional building, and hopes to contribute to the academic debate, proposing an alternative argument in the current scenario of the academy.Fil: Botto, Mercedes Isabel.
