This project examines the relationship between female socialisation, the presentation of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms, and the diagnosing process. Our research field consists of previous literature done on both socialisation (Brouwer &amp; Haan, 2019) and gender differences in ADHD (Rucklidge, 2010; Waite, 2006). The empirical data is comprised of a preliminary online survey, filled out by 93 women diagnosed with ADHD, and two in-depth interviews with women, talking about their individual experiences with ADHD. Since the project was done in Denmark, both the survey and interviews were conducted in Danish and later translated to English. Our analysis is based on the theories of Treatment of Minorities (Gitz-Johansen, 2003), Treatment of Neurodivergence (Murray, 2020), and the Power Relations in Society, conceptualised by Michel Foucault (O’Farrell, 2005). Although there is no clear link between socialisation and symptom presentation in ADHD, our findings support the evident correlation between symptom presentation and diagnosis. We found it to be an important discussion since both interviewees believed socialisation influences symptom presentation, as well as 80% of our survey participants who believed that their gender played a role in their diagnosis
