Changes in species diversity and abundance of the main components of the Black Sea pelagic community during the last decade

Abstract

The changes in species diversity and abundance of ichthyo- and zooplankton in the northern (mainly in the north-eastern) and southern regions of the Black Sea were analysed prior to and after the Mnemioysis leidyi invasion. In addition, long-term changes in species diversity and abundance of gelatinous animals were briefly considered for understanding the extent of their influence on the pelagic community
