Lichtspielklub Kurzfilmfestival20th –26th January 2022 Outline Description          Research Problem / QuestionRecipes for Baking Bread is a series of  five short filmsexploring stories from Holodomor, Ukraine 1932–1933.This work is part of  my PhD practice basedresearch, outcome from my research at Leeds BeckettUniversity. British Shorts is a prestigious filmfestival of  British short films in Berlin, Germany. Thisfestival appears on BFI animation funds eligible festivalslist. Screening of  my work was a Festival Screening(Documentary Special) on Monday 24th January 2022.This took place in person. My work was alongsidecontemporary live action and documentary films.This screening was at Sputnik Kino, Berlin. Funding forthis work includes commissioned design and partfunding from an Artists’ International Development Award in 2017.Design a process of  production to tell stories fromUkraine in 1932–1933. This work explores areas2between traditional animation and contemporarymotion graphics.This is one of  a number of  academic and creativeprojects to tell lost, forgotten, and refound storiesfrom Ukrainian histories. This has particularsignificance due to Russia’s recent invasion ofUkraine in 2022. There are stories, archives, independenceand projects to explore, telling Ukrainian historiesand identity, meanings, and using design to createcultural heritage.This film includes original research into motion graphics production. I explore these techniquesin depth in my PhD thesis and conference papersand published works.There is a selection process for this festival, filmsand screenings are of  high quality and this isa well regarded event, high status within film and animation communities.
