This paper promotes an analysis of the representation of time in the novel A Visit from the Goon Squad, by the American writer Jennifer Egan, focusing on its leading effect in the construction of the characters and the narrative structure of the work. Such reflections are guided by studies of contemporary literature and its transgression strategies through the non-linear temporal displacement promoted by the narrative. To do so, it is discussed how the structural possibilities were expanded in the text, since time does not carry fixed ways of development. Thus there are different types of narration in the universe of the novel, which promotes an expedition not only through the characters’ lifetime in the novel, but also through time itself. This process allows us to elaborate considerations on the conduction of contemporary narratives through elements such as time and its impacts on literary works.Este artigo tem como objetivo promover uma análise da representação do tempo no romance A Visit from the Goon Squad, da escritora estadunidense Jennifer Egan, tendo como foco seu efeito como condutor na construção das personagens e da estrutura narrativa da obra. Tais reflexões são pautadas em estudos sobre a contemporaneidade literária e suas estratégias de transgressão por meio do deslocamento temporal não linear promovido pela narrativa. Para isso, discute-se como as possibilidades estruturais foram expandidas no texto, uma vez que o tempo não carrega em si modos fixos de se desenrolar. Estabelecem-se, desse modo, diferentes tipos de narrar no universo da obra, o que promove uma expedição não só pelo tempo de vida das personagens do romance, mas também pelo tempo em si. Esse processo permite elaborar considerações sobre a condução das narrativas contemporâneas por meio de elementos como o tempo e seus impactos em obras literárias
