Abstract

Confusion in using etika word causes difficulties in differentiating etika and etiket word. Etika is often similar to etiket, even though both of these words are different. Etika, ethics, deals with value system, code of ethics, and critical reflection, while etiket deals with well mannered, etiquette. This confusion implies to the meaning of political communication ethics. Political communication ethics deals with value system, code of ethics, and critical reflection of political communication and political communication etiquette deals with well mannered of political communication. By using critical epistemological method and critical discourse analysis, political communication ethics is understood as moral guidance for political communication actors and as critical reflection for understanding social and political structures which influence political communication practices. As a moral guidance political communication ethics obligates political communication actors doing political communication based on value systems, deontological, and utilitarian principles, rights and virtue values in communication. As critical reflection political communication ethics wants to understand dominative and manipulative social and political stucture in political communication. As critical reflection political communication ethics also wants to deconstruct and reconstruct the dominative social and political structures which producelighting, justice, and peacefull, order and solidarity in political communication among members of society
