Pengaruh Ukuran Media Adsorben dan Konsentrasi Aktivator Naoh terhadap Efektivitas Penurunan Logam Berat Besi (Fe), Seng (Zn) dan Warna Limbah Cair Industri Galvanis Menggunakan Arang Sekam Padi

Abstract

Adsorption using activated charcoal is one way of processing wastewater containing heavy metals such as wastewater from galvanized industrial. The dominant substance contains in the wastewaste of galvanized is (iron) Fe, (Zinc) Zn, and color. Utilization of rice husk as an adsorbent is expected to produce cheap and affordable activated charcoal, so it can reduce the cost of operational in the wastewater treatment industry. The purpose of this research is to know the capability of active carbon from rice husk in reducing iron, zinc, and color content with batch and column operation. The batch operation using NaOH concentrations was variated with 0,5 M NaOH and 1 M NaOH solution and the use of media size was variated with 20 – 35 mesh and 35 – 60 mesh. The batch operation has 97,67% from the highest Fe efficiency lowering, 28,74% from Zn parameters, and 97,96% from the highest color efficiency lowering on the 1 M NaOH solution with 20 – 35 mesh. Otherwise, column operation need 1 inchi column diameter with 25 mL/minute and 50 mL/minute debit variation. Continue trial had 99.827% - 99.95% from the highest Fe efficiency lowering on the 25 mL/minute, for Zn parameters efficiency of 99.98% - 99.99%, while for the color parameters removal efficiency of 96.64%. Constant value speed (k1) 0.031 mL/mg.s (Fe), 0.044 mL/mg.s (Zn), and 0.001 mL/mg.s (color) with a capacity of adsorption (q0) of 0.616 mg/g (Fe), 0.418 mg/g (Zn) and 16.88 mg/g (color)
